I made this for a Sundae Bar that we did with friends. I got this recipe from Smitten Kitchen and followed it exactly for a perfect Hot Fudge Sauce. This would be a great gift or party favor in a jar, or you could even make a whole ice cream gift set with bowls, sprinkles and a homemade salted caramel sauce.
-2 tablespoons butter
-2/3 cup heavy cream
-1/2 cup light corn syrup, or honey
-1/4 cup packed dark-brown sugar
-1/4 cup cocoa powder
-1/4 teaspoon sea salt
-1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine the butter, cream, sweeteners, cocoa, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer on low, stirring, for 3 to 5 more minutes after everything has melted, then remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips. Stir in vanilla.
Allow to cool 10 minutes, then serve, or pour into a jar and refrigerate for up to a month. To re-heat for serving, place the jar (without the lid) in the microwave on 20 second intervals, stirring after each one, until the sauce has warmed up and thinned out.
