This has classic BBQ flavor, but is much leaner than traditional pork BBQ. Serve this on buns with baked beans and cole slaw.
To make this #dinnerdoneby9am I put all the ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning and switch to warm once it’s finished.
-2-3 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breasts, trimmed of fat
-1 cup BBQ sauce, either bottled or the homemade recipe below
In a greased slow cooker, combine BBQ sauce and chicken, stirring to coat. Cook on low for 4-6 hours, until meat shreds easily with a fork. Shred the chicken in the slow cooker and serve.
BBQ Sauce
-1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
-4 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
-6 Tbsp. worcestershire sauce
-1/2 cup brown sugar
-4 Tbsp. honey
-4 Tbsp. hot sauce
-4 tsp. garlic powder
-2 tsp. salt
-1 tsp. red pepper flakes
Combine all ingredients. Chill until using. Will keep in refridgerator for up to 2 weeks.
