My word for 2018 was PLAY. Throughout this year I learned to be more lighthearted and spontaneous, to show up more present and to laugh, have fun and enjoy life more fully. Over the course of the year I climbed trees, had acorn fights, danced in kitchens, played all the games and sports, read fiction books for enjoyment, tried foods I wouldn’t normally eat, and laughed until I cried (many times).

This year was good for my soul. As a task and detail oriented late thirty-something woman, I tend to take life and myself too seriously. I am so grateful for the amazing people in my life who play so well and helped me play more throughout this year. This year has changed me. I am still a doer by nature, but now I find myself noticing and embracing opportunities to play more regularly as I go about my daily life. Although this year may be over, play has become a new bestie for life.

Did you have a word or theme for the year? If so, what was it?
