This Slow Cooker {or Pressure Cooker} Applesauce might be my new favorite thing. My house smelled HEAVENLY while it simmered, there isn’t any added sugar (just apples, juice/cider, salt and cinnamon) and it comes together effortlessly in the slow cooker or pressure cooker via the recipe below.
-3 lbs apples, peeled, cored and diced (I prefer Gala, Fuji or Honeycrisp)
-1/2 c apple cider or juice
-1/2 tsp cinnamon
-1/8 tsp salt
Stir everything together in slow cooker or pressure cooker. Slow cook on low for 4 hours or pressure cook on manual at higher pressure for 10 minutes. Purée using an immersion blender then either serve warm immediately, or refrigerate and serve cold. (I like it best warm, has all the flavor of apple pie without the heavy dough and extra sugar)
