This is my go to marinara that I use for Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, or to serve over pasta or spaghetti squash. The flavor of this sauce enhances as it sits, so often I will make it a day ahead of when I am serving, refrigerate, and reheat. You can also add ground meat to make this a Bolognese Sauce.
To make this #dinnerdoneby9am I make the sauce in the morning, refrigerate all day, then reheat prior to serving.
-2 Tbsp olive oil
-1 onion, diced
-4 cloves garlic, minced
-1 (29 oz) can crushed tomatoes
-1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
-1 tsp salt
-1/2 tsp black pepper
-1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
-1 Tbsp sugar
-1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
Heat olive oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion, cook 10 minutes, stirring intermittently. Add garlic, cook, 1 additional minute. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, sugar and Italian seasoning. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat and serve.
